WHY YOU MAY NEED INVISALIGN?

Invisalign aligners in their case, showcasing both upper and lower teeth

Invisalign is a clear and comfortable alternative to traditional braces. They are easy to use, virtually undetectable (even up close), and comfortable to wear all day long. They’re recommended if you need to fix mild to moderate orthodontic situations. These conditions include:

  • Overcrowding- a situation where you have very little jaw space for your teeth to align normally, which may lead to tooth decay or gum disease.
  • Wide spacing between teeth- can be as a result of missing teeth or jaw overgrowth.
  • Crossbite- occurs when one or more upper teeth bite inside your lower teeth, a condition that can result in gum disease and bone erosion.
  • Overbite- the upper teeth jut out more than or covers the lower teeth entirely and might eventually cause jaw pain or TMJ.
  • Underbite- occurs when the lower jaw overgrows, or the upper one under develops.
  • Open bite- the top and bottom sets of teeth do not bite together correctly, which can lead to pain when eating or talking.

WHAT IS THE INVISALIGN TREATMENT PROCESS?

To ensure that you are eligible for Invisalign, the orthodontist will assess your teeth and the health of your mouth. If you are a potential candidate, here’s what you ought to expect during the treatment process:

WEARING YOUR ALIGNERS

The orthodontist will first make a traditional mold or scan a 3D image of your teeth, which will be used to customise your aligners depending on your desires and expectations. Once ready, the specialist will give you sets of customised aligners that you’ll wear for 20 to 22 hours per day for the best outcome. Your orthodontist will advise you on when to replace the aligners. Remember, you may need to remove the aligners when eating, brushing, or flossing.

MONITOR YOUR PROGRESS

After six weeks, you ought to visit the orthodontist for a check-up to evaluate if the treatment is going as expected, and make any adjustments when necessary.

DURATION OF THE TREATMENT

The treatment duration will depend on your wishes and the anticipated teeth movement. However, it usually takes nine to twelve months.

If you have questions or concerns about Invisalign or other Orthodontic treatment options, please contact our clinic at (289) 210-2382 and we will gladly help!
